Creativity in Schools

All children are creators, they love to paint, sing, dance and to travel in imaginary worlds!
The education system is left-brain oriented: it discourages out of the box thinking. Children that can’t fit in this system, normally develop behavioral problems.
This education alienates, dictates the norm and creates adults who do not know how to be creative. Our society forgets that it is creativity that is responsible for innovation and progress.

What should we change in education?

It should allow children to express themselves, to give creativity a chance to flourish. To give lots of creative materials, tools and resources to build, draw, design, compose, paint, design, photograph, choreograph, innovate and play, so that they can find their natural creative abilities. The teachers should interact with the children on a personal level and help them to find their talents, interests, passions and to manifest their dreams.
Arts should receive the attention that they deserve, to be treated on the same level as humanities. Nowadays children are seen as academic learners first and artists second. Outdoor education is also something that is missing in the current system.
We are cutting the wings of children around the world, whereas we should be teaching them to fly!
